QR code on tickets/memberships not scanning at gate

Helping guests get through the gate when QR codes fail

Symptoms:

QR codes in the app wallet or PDF tickets fail to scan at turnstiles or handheld readers.

Causes:
  • Device brightness too low.
  • Damaged or low‑quality printed codes.
  • Outdated app generating a non‑current QR or barcode format.

Fix:
  • Ask guests to maximise screen brightness.
  • If on paper, reprint at higher quality.
  • Ensure the app is updated to the latest version.
  • Staff can manually lookup by membership ID/barcode if the QR still won’t scan.
Prevention:

Regularly test scanners with different devices/OS. - Provide on‑screen tips in the wallet about brightness.
